The Architecture

The Brandenburg Main and County Stud with its magnificent stable master house in the main stud is regarded as a gem of Prussian architecture.

Brandenburg-Prussia and Neustadt

The history of the Brandenburg horses started first in Neustadt (Dosse) with the Duke Friedrich II of Hessen-Homburg.

The Brandenburg State Stud was established in 1788 by order of Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm II. On 400 hectares of pastures and fields, it contains two historic yards still largely used for their original purposes today, the Hauptgestüt (State Breeding Stud) with the house of the Stud Director and the Landgestüt (State Stallion Depot). The purpose of the studs has always been to improve the horse breeding of farmers.

Breeding history

Symbolised by its brand traditional brand, the signs of speed, intelligence and agility are the core characteristics of all horses bred in Neustadt.
